Help us out

ACES relies on member volunteers to accomplish many activities throughout the year, and our national conference is no exception. We are currently seeking volunteers ahead of and during the conference.

On-site conference volunteers

ACES member Jim Montalbano

This opportunity is available to anyone attending the conference.

EXPECTATIONS

Volunteers will spend one block of time (or more if you like), usually 90 to 120 minutes, one of the session days staffing the registration desk or the merchandise table, or working with the silent auction (this includes monitoring the auction room, helping total the winning bids, and working at the "checkout counter" when winners come to pay).

Web site/newsletter volunteers

Ron Smith, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

ACES is always in need of participants to write articles on the conference for copydesk.org and our newsletter.

EXPECTATIONS
  • An article before the conference on the Philadelphia area or the conference itself.
  • One article each day on a session. You pick the session (first-come, first-served)
  • Each article must be a minimum of 250 words and should include a quote from the session presenter and an attendee.
WE NEED PHOTOGRAPHERS
  • If you like to snap pictures, we need you, too. Any volunteer willing to take pictures for 30 minutes or less twice a day will receive a ticket to Saturday night’s party.

  • Volunteers will spend 2-4 hours on Wednesday, April 14, collating conference materials and participating in other preparatory activities.
  • Volunteers will be assigned other responsibilities from Thursday, April 15, to Saturday, April 17. Responsibilities will include staffing the registration desk, wayfinding, setup and breakdown.
  • Each volunteer will be asked to write an article on a session for our Web site and newsletter during the evening. Computers will be provided, and we’re looking for 500 words or less.
  • Total working time between Tuesday and Sunday is expected to be approximately 6 hours, allowing each volunteer to attend sessions and events.
